Great Decor Idea…

Comments Off 19 January 2011

As some of you may have seen the totally cute flour sack towels with designs like the old western Cowgirl ones, roosters, and I have even seen ones with an old bicycle on them.  These are cute depending on your style in your kitchen.  My favorite of course are the ones with the vintage western pictures on them.  The flour sack towels are actually easy to make yourself.

If you pick up a set of towels like these from Williams-Sonoma (or of course you can walk in to your nearest Target or WalMart, but the online sites didn’t give me a picture).

Find some iron on transfer copy paper from your local office supply store  like this…

Next, find pictures of whatever it is you are looking for.  Another idea is adding pictures of your family, new baby, or even your Christmas pictures and send them as a gift.  Your options are wide-open, even simple text like  ‘Christy’s Kitchen’, ‘Cowgirl Kitchen’, or whatever great idea you come up with.

Halloween is almost here and if you’re still looking for the perfect Costume, hopefully we can help.  These days it seems hard to find something that doesn’t look like it came out of the Playboy Magazine.  Not that I’m totally gripping because I love to feel good about myself, love to feel sexy, and love Playboy.  Continue Reading

Paint your Pumpkins PINK!

1 Comment 12 October 2010

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness week at Cowgirl Confidential we wanted to stop and make sure you’ve heard of this!  Yep, that’s right you take your Orange Pumpkins and paint’em PINK! Yes, Pink!  The perfect color for just about any girl.  Another campaign to raise awareness of Breast Cancer by painting your Halloween Pumpkins PINK!

Of course you can dress them up or cut’em out any way you choose but I absolutely think this sounds like a ton of fun.  We want to know if you’ve ever done this or if it’s something you’ll consider doing this October.  What could it hurt?

Here are some darling pictures we found from previous years of Painted Pink Pumpkins!  They look awesome huh?

Looks like fun to me!  Might even try lining your driveway with Pink lights instead of white ones.  Let me know…are you going to try this or have you in the past?

The possibilities are endless but the awareness is serious!

Freaky Feature Friday

2 Comments 13 August 2010

Friday the 13th it is!  These are few and far between but I think I’d like to keep it that way.  In honor of this freaky day I’d like to bring you ~ Fun Freaky Finds for Freaky Feature Friday!  Did you get all that?  Unusual items and maybe even a little spooky!

Friday the Thirteenth is known to those superstition types to be a day of bad luck.  There are many notions as to how the 13th became so freaky ranging from old calendars to witchcraft. Some believe in numerology where the number twelve is considered the number of completeness.  This is shown to be true by the twelve months of the year, twelve signs of the Zodiac, twelve hours on a clock, and even twelve Apostles of Jesus.  This makes the number thirteen irregular.  Other opinions are that Jesus died on a Friday and their were thirteen people at the Last Supper.  As taken from Wikipedia:

The actual origin of the superstition, though, appears also to be a tale in Norse mythology. Friday is named for Frigga, the free-spirited goddess of love and fertility. When Norse and Germanic tribes converted to Christianity, Frigga was banished in shame to a mountaintop and labeled a witch. It was believed that every Friday, the spiteful goddess convened a meeting with eleven other witches, plus the devil — a gathering of thirteen — and plotted ill turns of fate for the coming week. For many centuries in Scandinavia, Friday was known as “Witches’ Sabbath.”[11]

Now, I’m not going to argue where it originated from but, I can tell you that Wikipedia also states that between 17 and 21 million people in the US are affected by this day.  Whether they change daily routines, avoid taking flights, or just don’t get out of bed all together (my vote, just to sleep in) people are afraid that bad things are likely to happen to them on this day.

It is even estimated that between $800-$900 million is lost on this day!  WOW!!  Now that I would say…is Scary.  You’re shopping doesn’t have to end however, if you are superstitious there is always the ‘bookmark tab’ to save your finds and come back Saturday morning and make your purchases then.  Problem Solved!

Our items might not be Halloween Scary but, I think they are odd and unusual… a few maybe just not something you’d look for or even come across often.

I bet my bean bag is cooler than your bean bag…
