Baker City, OR — home of “The FATHER of the AIRSTREAM!!”

Wally Byam is my HERO…I mean, I’ve wanted an Airstream as long as I can remember!

“Don’t stop. Keep right on going. Hitch up your trailer and go to Canada or down to Old Mexico. Head for Europe, if you can afford it, or go to the Mardi Gras. Go someplace you’ve heard about, where you can fish or hunt or collect rocks or just look up at the sky. Find out what’s at the end of some country road. Go see what’s over the next hill, and the one after that, and the one after that.” This is the message and legacy of Wally Byam.

To every girl, woman, gypsy, free flighted soul..we honor you && wold LOVE to see your AIRSTREAM photos..love & cowchiks journey…

Cowdog Treats

1 Comment 16 August 2010

How can you ever forget about your favorite companion at all?  I can’t…that’s why Cowdog’s are our priority today.  Right at this moment I have three very happy pups curled up to me.  They are so close it’s almost hard to type but, given that it’s past their bedtime I’ll try not to bother them.

I like to think that by the saying ‘Man’s best friend’ that implies man-kind and includes us women as well.  My three dogs are about as child-like as they can get.  Cadie the oldest, is a Border Collie – Kelpie mix.  My first dog.  She loves to tag along whether you are going horse back, in the truck across the pasture, or even just to the store and back.  She is faithful and I know she would protect me against anything and everything.  She has alerted me to several rattlesnakes that I never would have found on my own.

Cash was my second dog. He is a Miniature Yorkie…that should tell you just about everything there is to know.  He isn’t the yelping little city dog you would think.  He gets dirty, rolls in the mud, loves the water, and then just wants to curl up in your lap or be held.  He doesn’t bark unless something or someone is outside.  This seems to be rare for my friends that have Yorkie’s…they just don’t shut up or mind very well.

Third, but not last at all is my recent (one year ago) rescue mutt, Odie!  He is a medium size dog that seems to be a Long-Haired Terrier mix with some Jack Russel maybe.  He is only two years old and is a totally different dog then the day I rescued him.  When I saw him my heart crumbled.  I usually don’t like strays but something about this dog got to me every time I saw him at my cousins house.   I was able to snatch him up one day and promised him I would take care of him, clean him up, feed him, and find him a home. Over a year later I can’t find the heart to part with him.  He has been nursed back to health and now is the most loving and protective dog I have ever seen.  He’s gone from roughing it to living like a king!

As you can see, I love my dogs.  Not having any kids these three occupy my time and take care of that motherly instinct that I have.  Which also might be why my dogs mind better than most children I know.  They have been through doggy boot camp and have very good manners.  This is why I think it is very important to include them every now and again on my posts.  They deserve love and attention.  If your dog lives out at the barn and isn’t quite the ‘child’ my dogs seem to be that’s okay too…you can still throw them a bone every now and them…even a Gourmet Bone!

Cannoli’s for dessert?  These look so good I might even be tempted to chow down!

Double – dipped bone? How could they resist?

Who doesn’t love Donuts….

How awesome is this?  A block of ice you put out for your thirsty pet to lick and play with?  Drop a few of your pups favorite toys in the bucket, add water, freeze, and Ice Treat made! Keeps them hydrated and entertained!

When traveling don’t forget your doggies necessities…

There are collars for the fancy uptown dogs and of course for the Cowdog, the Ruff Stuff…

To keep them clean try something some of us girls use..Pet Head by Bed Head (for Human Heads)

Waterless Dry Clean

or Regular Shampoo

and of course a place to lay their sweet little paws at night

For the royally spoiled…

Try not to forget about Man’s Best Friend.  They follow us everywhere and help us do our daily jobs.  They are always up to go at a moments notice and in return a little Canolli or a Donut lets them know we appreciate it.  Of course, so does a custom made matching bed!

Don’t forget to think about our Rescue Dogs also!  Adopt a dog or donate to help save them with The Pedigree Foundation!
