    What I love about being a cowgirl…

    I was country when country wasn’t cool…

Back in the day, it didn’t bother me to be considered a cowgirl. I’ve always been a tomboy. As a young child people would mistake me for a boy so when I was five years old I got my ears pierced for my birthday, then everyone would know I was a girl!

The best thing about being a cowgirl, is being able to do whatever I want, when I want. I can rope with my three sons, I can unload 50 pound bags of feed, drive my four wheel drive crew cab diesel pickup and not *have* to depend on a man to do things for me.

I think independance is the best part!

  2. Janice Apple says:

I love being a cowgirl because it makes me different, none of that frilly stuff for me, I like to ride with my hair flying in the wind on the back of my horse and just fly like the wind. Outdoors is the only way for me, although I was removed from the country while young, I have always said, ” You can take the cowgirl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the cowgirl!” That statement is my motto! I will be a country girl until I die!

  3. Heather Dery says:

I LOVE NATURE BEING OUTDOORS RIDING HORSES LEATHER THE COWS IN THE PENS… I LOVE IT…

  4. Kelly Narvaez says:

There is no other way of life other than being a Cowgirl!! I love the relationships with the horses and the other cowgirls out there. Being in the Ranching world, I have been raised as a very independent woman, from fixing fence and wading in the mud to driving tractors and baling hay!! I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. It has made me the person I am today!!

  5. Sarah Sample says:

I love being a cowgirl. I’ve been riding since before I could walk. Sometimes it seems like the only person that is truely there for me one of my geldings, or my corgi Jo. Being a cowgirl means not caring what others think, standing up for what is right and what you believe in, and never giving up. It also means loving what you do and your family with all your heart.

  6. Thea says:

I don’t know how everyone has missed the most obvious answer – uh, the best part about being a cowgirl is the cowboys! They are entertaining and nice to look at ;)

  7. Bry says:

I love being a cowgirl because I can take care of myself. I dont need a man to do any of the ‘hard’ stuff, I can do it all! ~with style~

  8. Kelli says:

I love being outdoors! That is the best part about being a cowgirl…and the cowboys don’t hurt:)

  9. Denim Clark says:

Man this is hard there is soooooo much, but as you can tell by my name I was raised Cowgirl. Raised with horses and other animals. As I grew I tried to pull away from the life style and sold my barrel horse for a car, but still rode colts for my mom. Out of high school I sold two head horses to go to college and didnt even own a horse for a year. Thats when I realiazed the best thing about being a Cowgirl……. HEART!!

See eventhough I didnt have a horse to lable me a cowgirl, no one could take away what I knew in my HEART. It takes HEART to be a cowgirl. HEART to stick with a dying calf and nurse him back to life. HEART to get back on when bucked off, (in relationships too). HEART to know when to let go of a horse with west nile. HEART to encourage your fellow cowgirls, when you would rather be out there. And the most, HEART knowing what God has started in you He will not leave you hanging. He has now blessed me with an awesome man and we live on a ranch and I continue being a Cowgirl every day.

  10. Melinda Summit says:

I love being a cowgirl because there is so much grace in beng cowgirl that other women could only hope for and don’t seem to understand. When I put on my boots and saddle up to ride there is always a graceful aura around me. Horses and the Cowgirl way has always been a life that no other could compare. No matter what happens in life I can always find peace in the barn with the horses, does not matter if I am riding, feeding, cleaning, or reading the latest articals in the Horse and Rider magazine. I am cowgirl always have been cowgirl and always WILL be cowgirl!

  11. I love the fact that I get to live in the middle of nowhere; and that I do what I want to do everyday- which is ride or chase cows or start colts.

  12. Bernice says:

I believe that the differance of a cowgirl is they dont try to convince people what they are….

I may not have the skills my husband has, but I can fix fence, round up cattle, Im not afraid to get down in the mud, Ive been out there rain or shine.

I can run the land when hes out of town, I carry bales of hay in my hummer h3 unload it myself get to work with hay in my hair. Cowgirl has made me what I am today, I am me, “simple as that” enough said ;)

  13. Sandy Leatherman says:

I love it when I can look outside and see our cows, donkeys, show heifers. We have a lot of good memories show our cattle. Plus I just bought me a brand new pair of boots!!

  14. Jennifer Whitmer says:

It makes me feel like I have some degree of independence to be a cowgirl. I am pretty much capable of doing anything I need to when I need to. Then I can put on something “cowgirl pretty” and go dancing! I have two boys (grown men now) that I love doing things with and we love the same things. Horses, rodeo, Hunting, fishing, sale barns, etc. I just love being country. There is no better lifestyle in the world.

  15. Christy Jo says:

WOW Great job and I have to agree with ALL of you! I LOVE being who I am and independence is a huge part of who I am. I can do anything I want to do…want being the key word ;) . Congrats to our winners and keep comin’ back. We’ll have more contests to follow.

  16. Vicky Diane Wyatt says:

  17. amanda says:

What’s there not to love!?! I couldn’t imagine life any other way. There’s nothing like ridin an good horse through the hills with your dog by your side on a nice sunny day. That’s what I love about being a cowgirl!

  18. Pala Mik. says:

Why I love being a cowgirl, it shows me how to actually live life. you can be wild, free, whatever. it’s just the way you look at things. you’re a cowgirl because you’re not a city girl, not afraid to get a lil dirt under your nails. BTW being a cowgirl means you’re fearless, and that’s why i love being a cowgirl, because i dont have to be afraid of what’s coming at me in life, just go with the flow and be wild, have fun!

  19. I may not be cool anywhere else on this earth… but when I am on that horse’s back… I am. I can. I am not afraid. I feel free, enabled, unleashed. What a feeling… when’s my next ride?

  20. Great blog, I have just bookmarked it :)
