A Cowgirl is so many different things and comes in many forms. Rancher, Barrel Racer, Stable Girl, Vet…my goal is to capture the essence of a Cowgirl in all areas of our lifestyle. The cowgirl on the tractor putting out hay and then darting into town to pick the kids up from school, the one cleaning out stalls and then cooking dinner, the one shopping online while waiting for hay to be delivered. It’s about the one doctoring a wound on a horse where an old piece of tin has cut him and then going to a PTA meeting. The one up at 3 a.m. making her husband breakfast before he goes out to start training and then eventually after a few loads of laundry and dishes…makes her way out to help him. I myself am the rodeo cowgirl, with chores that this page wouldn’t even hold. From doctorin’ cattle to cleanin’ out stalls and training horses to driving a tractor.
We as Cowgirls live a life like no other. We do things most girls would DIE if they had to do. Most of us, do these things and then put on some fancy smancy high heels and rockin’ jeans and go to town and shop at the Coach store or Luis Vuitton (whatever you fancy). Of course there are days that while your unloading hay, you don’t have time for those heels or even clean jeans and you go to the Coach store anyways. Lots of strange looks are given when you’re standing in the store looking at a $400 purse in nasty jeans with your boots and spurs on. I have felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman numerous times, where the sales lady will not help her because of how she looks. I kind of have the same attitude as she did in that store!
This is what sets our world apart from other men and women. They don’t understand our world, they don’t come from it. Those looks I’ve been given while wearing my boots and spurs in the unexpected places, actually make me smile. Honey, this is who I am…take it or leave it. Tomorrow I may very well be sporting my new Coach purse and Gianni Bini high heels, but today…boots and spurs. It’s how I was raised and how I live, how I choose to live. Cowgirl Confidential is not just about our fashion, it’s about the horse trailers we pull, the polo matches, what saddle we like, how breaking ice in horse troughs is so not fun, the barrel races, our favorite boots, doing all that muddy laundry, the calf ropers (yes, there are women calf ropers…awesome women calf ropers), the custom made bits, it’s about our life and the world we live in. My world. Your world. Welcome to Cowgirl Confidential.
Pretty In Pink Wicked in Spurs

I wish I knew your name (I’d recommend putting it after your posts), but I just want to give you a thumbs up on your first blog post! I love it and I can totally relate! A cowgirl does it all theses days. There have been numerous occasions where I have no time to change, from my clothes I mucked stalls in, and then have to rush to a meeting or an event where everyone else is all dressed up. I think that’s because most cowgirls are comfortable in their own skin (hard work really does build character) and know that whether they’re wearing muddy boots and tattered riding clothes, or high heels and a dress, it’s who’s on the inside that counts.
Great blog post and I look forward to many more in the future!
